In Cairn, falls are rarely "random". They are the result of ignoring warnings.
- Audio: Aava's breathing becomes ragged/heavy.
- Visual (Aava):
- Shaking: Limbs vibrate. Grip is failing.
- Looking Down: Aava looks panicked.
- Visual (Screen):
- Vignette: Screen edges darken/desaturate (Tunne vision).
- Yellow/Red Flashes: Critical grip failure imminent.
Before un-weighting a hand to move it, check your other 3 limbs.
- Are they on "Good" holds?
- Is your balance centered?
- Tip: If the controller vibrates when you try to move a limb, the game is warning you that your current stance is weak. Cancel the move.
Never let your stamina hit 0.
- The 50% Rule: If you are 50% down on stamina and haven't found a rest stance, stop climbing up. Climb down or sideways to the nearest previous rest.
- Shake Out Early: Don't wait until red-line to shake out. Do it constantly.
- Wet Rock: Dark, shiny patches. Avoid unless necessary.
- Loose Rock: Some holds wiggle. Test them before committing full weight.
- Wind: If the wind howls, hold valid buttons and brace. Do not move during a gust.
If you slip (not a full fall, but a foot slip):
- Don't Panic: Don't mash buttons.
- Re-engage: Quickly press the grab button for the slipped limb if it's near a hold.
- Pitons: If you fall fully, pray your last piton was < 5m ago.
