Resource Planning

Food, Water, and Gear strategy for long ascents.

The Triad of Survival

  1. Calories (Food)
  2. Hydration (Water)
  3. Protection (Pitons)

Packing Strategy

The "Alpine Style" (Fast & Light)

  • Inventory: 2 Pitons, 1 Water, 2 Energy Bars.
  • Goal: Speed. Reach the next Bivouac before hunger sets in.
  • Risk: One delay (storm, getting stuck) means starvation.

The "Expedition Style" (Heavy & Slow)

  • Inventory: 6+ Pitons, 2 Water, Raw Ingredients, Stove, Windmill.
  • Goal: Resilience. You can camp anywhere, wait out storms, and siege the wall.
  • Risk: High weight = fast stamina drain on steep sections.

Where to Find Resources?

Water

  • Drips/Waterfalls: Use Canteen on falling water.
  • Ice: Melt ice at Bivouac (requires stove + fuel).
  • Pools: Found on large ledges.

Food

  • Mushrooms/Herbs: Grow in cracks. Look for colors (Red/Green/Yellow).
  • Small Animals: Rats/Birds can sometimes be caught (requires trap or luck).
  • Loot: Old cans found in "Trash" piles left by previous expeditions.

Gear (Scrap)

  • Trash: piles of junk on ledges.
  • Climbot: Use the "Search" function of your robot companion to highlight loot nodes.

The Rule of Thirds

  • 1/3 of resources for the Ascent.
  • 1/3 of resources for the Descent (or unexpected delays).
  • 1/3 Reserve (Emergency). (In game, you don't usually descend, so treat the second 1/3 as "Getting Stuck buffer").
